Q. I had Septoplasty surgery to correct a deviated septum in the winter of 2009. It’s been over a year now my surgery and I have found since then that my nose runs whenever I eat anything. The problem started almost straight after surgery which I assumed was just a side effect of the work that was done but it still happens even now. Firstly is this something you have come across before in your time as a surgeon and will it stop? I’d like to avoid any more surgery, but I’d also like to know if I can expect it to get better.,
A. This is an unusual problem that you mentioned, I have not come across in my experience. You sometimes do get a problem of excess working of the eyes as a result of interference with the drainage of the deviated end of the nose after a second rhinoplasty. This however is different from what you described and unfortunately it is not something that is frequently described or something that I have cone across my experience, Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Prashant Govilkar Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics
